Accessibility Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for an Accessibility professional who has a deep understanding of Accessibility technologies and a passion for driving application and web site improvements through a code level understanding to be able to educate and guide engineers and program managers in accessibility best practices covering industry standards (e.g. WCAG 2.0).

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Understand the needs of disabled individuals people with disabilities and how they interface with the software and hardware.
  • Person will be a key contributor to the IT Accessibility Program working closely with the Development and Engineering teams to carryout assessments and support testing and development of websites/applications including coding and Assistive Technologies (AT)with Accessibility skills within the Engineering teams.
  • Person needs to be able to connect with and work with multiple teams stimulatingly, providing education, instruction and support enabling teams to become self-sufficient using both technology, standards and processes.
  • Work with regulatory affairs team and project management is a strong part of this role.
  • The role consists of 60% technical and 30-40% PM skills.


  • Passion and expertise in customer service (service/help desk experience), must have targeted experience working with accessibility.
  • Deep hands on technical understanding of assistive technologies (products and guidelines)
  • Universal design principles and experience working with engineering teams
  • Screen readers, voice recognition, html/CSS
  • Influencing and guiding engineering teams
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (WCAG 2.0)
  • Hands on testing experience, root cause analysis and test plan creation and previous experience in use of automated testing tools will be highly desirable.
  • Ability to present and report technical information at all levels
  • Demonstrated technical accessibility skills (knowledge of standards and assisted technologies)
  • Ability to work across virtual teams and influence/educate engineers
  • Proven ability to close projects
